Our Story
Smokey Joe’s BBQ began as conversation between Joe and Gillian (Jill) Wilson about entering a BBQ competition in 2016. At the time this contest was the largest amateur rib cook off in the state of Michigan hosted by the Oakland County Parks. The couple took first place at the competition in Lathrup Village and the rest is history.
In 2017, the husband and wife team decided to have a food truck built along with a custom reverse flow smoker. This unique smoker along with the low and slow process gives Smokey Joe’s its reputation of southern style BBQ.
Smokey Joe’s offers a variety of smoked meats such as brisket, ribs, chicken and their signature “Smoked Meatloaf”.
All of their sides are made with love, including the mac and cheese, pit beans, green beans with smoked turkey, and honey jalapeño cornbread.
